Purpose: This assignment
aims to provide students opportunities to practice summary and critique
writing as well as effective strategies for avoiding plagiarism
(summarizing, paraphrasing, and quoting) and integrating sources (e.g.,
using PIE structure). It also aims to introduce and assess APA citation
style.
Task: You will read and discuss an article and produce a one-page
summary of the key points in the case in their own words. The summary
should demonstrate students’ ability to accurately summarize an article
without including minor details or opinions, include proper APA-style
citations, and avoid plagiarism with proper paraphrasing techniques. Formatting Requirements: The length of the summary should not exceed one page, Times New Roman, 12pt, double spacing with 1 inch margins on all sides.
